About Wide Open Music

Based in Nashville, Tennessee - Wide Open Music Publishing was originally launched by industry executives Ash Bowers and Steve Williams in 2013, the company found success with Brett Young’s double Platinum single “In Case You Didn’t Know,” which spent two weeks atop the Billboard and Mediabase charts, as well as Parmalee’s Top 5 hit “Close Your Eyes” and Kristian Bush’s “Trailer Hitch.” The Wide Open catalog claims Keith Urban’s “Boy Gets A Truck” and Montgomery Gentry’s “Folks Like Us,” as well as various album cuts by Dustin Lynch, Canaan Smith, William Michael Morgan, Love and Theft, and many others.

Born and raised in a small town outside Raleigh, Victoria Goodvin moved from North Carolina to Tennessee in the fall of 2009. In pursuit of her dreams she attended Belmont University; graduating in 2013 with a Bachelors in Entertainment Industry Studies.

“I moved to Belmont knowing my passion was music, but also knowing I was not exactly, musically inclined. I didn’t play an instrument, I didn’t sing or write songs; but I was drawn to that creativity, nonetheless. I did not know what I wanted to do in the Entertainment Industry, but I knew it was where I needed to be.”

During her studies at Belmont, Victoria gravitated toward Publishing. That focus allowed her to work with songs, both the story & the storyteller. She succeeded at various internships during college, but it was not until she met, her now husband, Aaron Goodvin, and industry vet, Bart Butler, that things started falling into place.

“Bart really took me under his wing, showing me I could have a place in the music business, and pushing me to take it. Without his, & Aaron’s vote of confidence in the beginning, I really don’t know where I’d be today.”

With her own passion, and those votes of confidence, Victoria landed her first Creative Director position for ‘Song Factory’, working with Bart Butler, Jon Pardi, Dustin Lynch, Larry McCoy, Ashley McBryde, and Olivia Rudeen.

Victoria recalls her time spent with ‘Song Factory’ as, an: “incredible learning experience, ending with numerous friendships & priceless skills-honed.” After leaving ‘Song Factory’, Victoria moved on to serve as Creative Director at Row Entertainment & Liv Write Play. There, she worked alongside Jimmy Ritchey, Tim Rushlow, William Michael Morgan, Robert Counts, Greg Bates and Skip Black.

Jumping to 2018, Victoria recounts, “Ash Bowers approached me about a publishing position at Wide Open Music. They had Jimmie Allen at the cusp of landing his first number one, and Matt Stell had just released “Prayed for You”, which became a smash hit.” Victoria accepted the opportunity and found herself not only working in publishing, but also given the ability to dabble in management, assisting with Jimmie Allen and Matt Stell’s day-to-day. This time spent in artist-management showed Victoria how rewarding the industry truly could be

She recounts, “…playing a role in an artist’s career, whether big or small, watching them reach new levels of success, and knowing you had a working hand in it, made me feel rewarded in my passion.”

In 2020, Wide Open sold it’s existing catalog and publishing company; only to relaunch a new publishing company under the same name with Victoria as Vice President.

“I am thrilled to be at the helm of a company I believe in, within an industry I love. We have such a great team surrounding us here. I am truly honored to work with, and inspired to be working with our artists and songwriters.”
